Golfers Sought to Help Raise Funds for New War Memorials

From the Mayor’s Office:

Spots Still Available for the Medford Veterans Memorial Golf Tournament Fundraiser

The Medford Veterans Memorial Fundraising Committee has announced that golf spots and golf hole sponsorships are still available for the Veterans Memorial Golf Tournament, scheduled for Wednesday, August 8, 2007, at 10AM at Gannon Memorial Golf Course in Lynn, Massachusetts.  This golf tournament is just one of many fundraisers being held to help offset the costs of the new war memorials being added to Honor Roll Park.  The Veterans Fundraising Committee hopes that the additional war memorials (Korea, Vietnam, and a supplementary WWII memorial) will be dedicated on October 14, 2007.

The cost to golf is $150 and includes 18 holes of golf, golf cart, tournament gift, and a full barbecue luncheon featuring ribs, chicken, salads, corn on the cob, and chef’s choice of dessert.  Foursomes cost $600.  Prizes will be awarded for male/female closest to the pin, longest drive, and to the top 3 teams.  A raffle will also be held during the tournament luncheon.  Golf hole sponsorships are also available at a cost of $100.  Sponsorships can be made from anyone, or can be made in the name of a veteran, or in memory of a veteran who served in any of the conflicts.  Prizes are also being accepted for the raffle.

The maximum amount of golfers for this tournament is 144.  Checks should be made payable to the Medford Veterans War Memorials Committee.  Interested parties should contact Lisa Evangelista in the Mayor’s Office at 781-393-2408 or by email at levangelista@medford.org by July 31, 2007.
