Medford Residents Raise Money for New High School Fields

The Medford Field of Dreams Committee is well on its way to raising the $2 million needed to construct brand new fields behind the high school.

The group plans to pay for the project with alumni donations and revenue from cell phone companies renting space on a cell monopole designed to look like a flag pole.  The School Committee recently handed over the land needed for the cell tower, which will be adjacent to the new fields.

The fields will be made from Astroturf and can be used by the soccer, football, lacrosse, softball, and baseball teams.  Plans are also in the works for a walking/running track around the fields.

Hear more about the project from Committee members Bill Carr, Jay Cirame, and Coach George Scarpelli in this video clip from MHS TV 15.
