Medford Square Holiday Clean-up

Cleaning supplies

Help get Medford Square ready for this week’s holiday festivities. Volunteers will meet at 5PM at the triangle in front of the former Papa Gino’s. Trash bags and gloves will be provided, please bring dustpans, brooms, and small rakes if possible. Light-colored, reflective clothing is encouraged. Medford’s Annual Holiday Celebration and Jingle Bell Tree Festival

City Hall will be decked out in full holiday regalia, inside and out. The annual lights display, courtesy of the Vocational High School, will be turned on and there will also be lightings of the Menorah, Christmas Tree, and Kinara. Head inside for the annual Jingle Bell Tree Festival where, if you’re lucky, you could win a fully-decorated Christmas tree. Event is free, 4:30PM-6:30PM, City Hall.

Medford’s 2nd Annual Victorian Stroll

Medford Square

Head down to Medford Square for caroling, hot chocolate, period costumes, and other free holiday fun to celebrate Medford’s rise to prominence in the Victorian era. Many places throughout the Square are holding open houses (see below). Also be sure to take advantage of some discounted shopping. 6PM-8PM, Medford Square.

Medford Historical Society Open House

Stop by the Medford Historical Society during the Victorian Stroll for a free open house with cider, cookies, and a look at the incredible Civil War photo exhibit. 10 Governors Avenue, 6PM-8PM.

Springstep Open House

Springstep will be a welcome refuge from the cold with its hot chocolate and other goodies. Stop in to peruse its course offerings, observe classes, and pick up coupons for its upcoming performance series. 6PM-8PM, 98 George P. Hassett Drive (next to City Hall).

Chevalier Theater Open House

Check out Medford’s historic Chevalier Theatre and enjoy some holiday music that will play continuously throughout the evening. 6PM-8PM, 30 Forest Street.

Medford Artist Crafts Fair

The Medford Arts Center, Inc. (MACI) has organized a crafts fair with food, music, and plenty of wonderful handmade items from local artists, from jewelry to photographs to paintings. 6PM-8PM, plaza next to Salem Street burial grounds.

“Crossing the River” at 13FOREST Gallery

“Crossing the River”

Come see 13FOREST Gallery’s final show in Medford. The gallery is “crossing the river” to move into a larger space in Arlington, and its final show highlights the work of eight artists whose styles have evolved in response to their environment and muses. 7PM-10PM, 13 Forest Street.

Jingle Bell Festival House Tours and Tree Festival

Enjoy a tour of beautifully decorated homes in Medford this weekend. Tickets are going fast but are still on sale at Lonergan Insurance and Real Estate, 74 High Street. Also, head to City Hall to check out the Christmas tree display and take a chance on winning one of the 40 holiday displays.
