World Series Trophy Part of Holiday Celebration

Mayor Michael McGlynn’s office just announced that, in addition to Wally the Green Monster, the Red Sox’ 2007 World Series Trophy will also make an appearance at Medford’s Holiday Celebration on Wednesday.

The event kicks off at 4:30PM tomorrow when City Hall is set ablaze with lights, followed by the lighting of the Menorah, Christmas Tree, and Kinara. The light displays and large, iron ornaments were created by the Medford Vocational-Technical High School in conjunction with the Chamber of Commerce.

Chief Warrant Officer and Department of Public Works employee Timothy McCarthy, who recently returned from his third tour of duty in Iraq, will be doing the honors of lighting up the building.

Other festivities include ice sculptures, face painting, pony rides, and the Jingle Bell Tree Festival, with music and entertainment provided by WROR’s Loren and Wally.

The event is free and open to all, and the Mayor is asking people to donate a new, unwrapped toy for the US Marine Corps’ Toys for Tots program.
