Former pro baseball player David Valdez never tires of spreading his love of the game to children, whether at his baseball training facility in Medford or in his native Dominican Republic.

Over the next several days Valdez is collecting both new and used baseball equipment to bring to needy children in the Dominican Republic. He is collecting bats, balls, gloves, helmets, cleats, and jerseys at his baseball complex at Gold’s Gym in Medford and will depart with the equipment on January 9, 2008.

The complex is located inside Gold’s Gym at 4000 Mystic Valley Parkway. For more information please contact Valdez at 781-856-8721 or Peter Colford at 617-771-4301.

Valdez, former infield player for the LA Dodgers and Seattle Mariners, now runs First Place Sports Complex, a sports training facility helps athletes at all levels, from Little Leaguers to current Red Sox sluggers, improve their running, hitting, pitching, and fielding skills.
