Unlike two years ago, when the City Council decided to hold its own inauguration, this year all of Medford’s elected officials will take their oaths of office together in one big ceremony.

The city will hold an inauguration ceremony on Sunday, January 6, 2008 at 11AM in the Howard F. Alden Memorial Chambers for the Mayor and all Council and School Committee members.

Mayor Michael McGlynn said the Council contacted him this year about holding the ceremony together.

The Mayor, along with each newly-elected City Councilor and School Committee member, will take an oath of office for their respective two-year terms.

Everyone in the community is invited to attend the ceremony, which will also be broadcast live on Channel 16, the city’s municipal channel.

Also unlike two years ago, there are no new elected officials. School Committee member Ann Marie Cugno and City Councilor Fred Dello Russo, Jr., newly elected in 2005, will be sworn in on January 6 for their second terms.

The rest of the School Committee will also be sworn in, including Lena DiGiantommaso, Paulette Van der Kloot, William Brady, Fred Pompeo, and Robert Emmett Skerry, Jr., as well as the rest of the Council- Robert Maiocco, Stephanie Muccini Burke, Michael Marks, Robert Penta, Breanna Lungo, and Paul Camuso.
