Trace Amount of Snow Falls on Medford

- Allison Goldsberry

Despite the four to seven inches predicted by the National Weather Service, barely an inch of snow blanketed Medford and the surrounding area.

The trace amount of snow is just an inch or so shy of breaking the record set for snow fall in Boston in 1970, which was 27.9 inches.

The city declared a snow emergency very early Monday morning, which was lifted as of 6AM.

Another storm is expected on New Year’s Day, but is so far predicted to impact the western and central parts of the state.

According to Weather Underground’s forecast, New Year’s Day in Medford will be about 35 degrees and light snow and rain are possible.
