MC Hockey Upsets Catholic Memorial in State Tourney

Lancers’ Next Stop is Reading in State Finals

The Malden Catholic hockey team upset its Catholic Conference rival Catholic Memorial in a closely-fought game Wednesday night at Lowell’s Tsongas Arena.

The Lancers’ 3-2 win in the MIAA Super 8 Boys Hockey Semi-final secured them a final match-up against suburban powerhouse Reading High School. The two teams will take the ice at the TD Banknorth Garden on Sunday, March 16 at 7:30PM.

The Lancers entered the Super 8 tourney seeded 6th with a 11-5-4 record. They defeated St. John’s Prep, Hingham, and Xaverian in the first three rounds.
