Tufts Student Stabbed in Weekend Fight

Student Stabbed During Fight with Locals on Campus

– Allison Goldsberry

A Tufts University student was stabbed early Saturday morning on campus during a fight with locals outside a fraternity.

The Tufts Daily identifies the student as sophomore Dan Stebbins.  Stebbins, who spoke to the student newspaper, said he was surprised he had been stabbed and that the wounds he suffered were not serious.

According to Stebbins’ interview with the paper, Stebbins, a member of fraternity Delta Upsilon, became involved in an argument outside of his fraternity with individuals who do not attend Tufts.  Four of his fraternity brothers were also involved.

Stebbins said the argument turned physical and one of the non-Tufts students slashed him three times with a knife.

According to Captain Paul Upton of the Somerville Police, three individuals were arrested after the fight, including two by Tufts Police and one by Somerville Police.  Capt. Upton said none of the individuals have been charged with the stabbing.  He had no further comment.
