Aide for Former Medford Rep Says Marzilli Suffers from Bipolar Disorder

State Senator Jim Marzilli’s lawyer, Terrence Kennedy, has announced to the media that his client is suffering from a “fairly serious mental health condition.”

According to YourArlington.com, Cindy Friedman, Marzilli’s chief aide, said the senator is being treated for bipolar disorder. Friedman declined to offer further details.

The 50-year-old state senator has been receiving treatment at McLean hospital for the past few weeks in Belmont following charges for sexual assault.

Marzilli, a state representative for Arlington and Medford for nearly two decades before being elected to the state senate last December, recently announced he will not be seeking re-election for his seat.
