Rep. Sciortino Launches Website for Write-in Campaign

State Representative Carl Sciortino– Allison Goldsberry

State Representative Carl Sciortino (D-Medford) is ramping up his write-in campaign for reelection with just one month to go until the Democratic Primary on September 16.

Rep. Sciortino, running for his third term, failed to get on the ballot after his nomination papers went missing. He is forced to wage a write-in and a sticker campaign since his name will not appear on the ballot.

Rep. Sciortino said his nomination papers somehow disappeared after he left them overnight in his office. Once claiming they were stolen, Rep. Sciortino says he now takes full responsibility for their disappearance and is focusing on raising awareness for his write-in campaign.

“Leaving my signatures in an unsecured location was an error in judgment. I take full responsibility for this mistake, and I apologize for the distraction it has caused. Although my name will not appear on the ballot, you will be able to vote for me either by placing a sticker on the ballot or by writing in my name. I hope that I can still count on your vote. Together, we have accomplished a lot for the families of Medford and Somerville over the past four years, and I want to continue that work. I ask for your vote in the Democratic primary on September 16,” said Rep. Sciortino in a statement to voters.

Rep. Sciortino has launched a website, www.writeincarl.com, that gives voters detailed instructions on how to fill in his name on the ballot and also allows voters to sign up to receive stickers with his name on it to place on their ballots. He also sent out a mailing to his constituents in his district, the 34th Middlesex, which includes parts of Medford and Somerville.Somerville Alderman Bob Trane
