Tufts Welcomes the Class of 2012
1,305 new Jumbos and their families will descend upon Medford on Wednesday, August 27, to start their four year journey at Tufts University. Here’s a look at the Tufts class of 2012 by the numbers:
15,641- number of applicants to Tufts, the largest pool in school history
2,017- number of those applicants who applied to the School of Engineering, also a record number
12- percentage of applicants who were accepted to Tufts
43- states the incoming class represents
33- nations the incoming Jumbos are from
27- percentage of domestic students of color
12- percentage of international students
1415- mean SAT score for the incoming class, the highest in school history
749- mean SAT math score for Engineering students, another record

$13 million- need-based aid awarded to the Class of 2012

200- captains of at least one sport in high school
11- percentage of students who are the first in their families to attend college
