Tufts University will host a panel discussion on “compassionate leadership” on Sept. 25 with Queen Noor of Jordan, Rabbi Irwin Kula, a provocative religious leader and well-respected rabbi, and the Sakyong, Jamgön Miphon Rinpoche, world spiritual leader of Shambhala Buddhism.

According to information released by Tufts, the panelists will discuss current world events and will connect them to people’s own lives and capacity for leadership. The Sakyong, world spiritual leader of Shambhala Buddhism, and Rabbi Irwin Kula, a provocative religious leader and well-respected rabbi, will share wisdom from their traditions.  Her Majesty Queen Noor of Jordan will provide a first-hand look at what it is to be a leader by sharing her stories and experiences.

The discussion will be moderated by Jerry Murdock, co-founder of Insight Venture Partners and a member of the Board of Trustees of both The Santa Fe Institute and The Aspen Institute.

The audience is encouraged to submit questions ahead of the event online at VivaPeace.org.

“As we look ahead to this year’s presidential election, the topic of leadership, and its relation to moral and spiritual values, is more timely than ever. Tufts is especially pleased to welcome these three remarkable leaders to campus since as an institution we are deeply committed to active citizenship,” said Tufts University President Lawrence S. Bacow in a written statement.

The event is taking place from 5PM-6:30PM at Tufts’ Cohen Auditorium.  It is free and open to the public but tickets must be reserved in advance by calling the Tufts Office of Community Relations at 617-627-3780.
