’55 MHS Baseball Team Honored at Banquet

The 1955 MHS baseball team

The 1955 Medford High School baseball team, pictured above in a yearbook photo, is being honored at this year’s Mustang Hall of Fame Banquet. Above, front, from left to right: R. Calaveso, R. On Sunday, November 23, thirteen athletes, two community members, and one coach were officially inducted into the Mustang Hall of Fame during a special banquet.

The 1992 girls basketball team, coached by inductee Ernie Ardolino, was also honored, along with the 1955 baseball team, which included star athletes such as Bill Monboquette (pitcher), Charlie Pagliarulo (shortstop), Ardolino (shortstop), and Angie Marotta (2nd base).

The ’55 team was captained by Marotta,  Leo Mericantante, and Monbouquette.  In one of the most memorable games of the season, Medford blanked Everett, 10-0, with Monbouquette fanning 17 and allowing only 3 hits.

The Mustang Hall of Fame is celebrating its twentieth anniversary this year.

Peter Sabia Class of 1971

Dr. Brian Golden Community Service
Served as Team Physician in Football from 1972-2004 as well as other teams at Medford High School. Would not accept stipend by MHS, told school to use it for the kids in the school. Also did physicals for all athletes at no cost. Attended each game.
