Kiwanis Bring Italy to Medford with Charity Event

“Taste of Italy” Draws Crowd

Kiwanis Taste of Italy

The following announcement is from the Kiwanis Club of Medford:

The Kiwanis Club of Medford hosted its annual “Taste of Italy” event on October 7, 2008. The event was held in celebration of Italian Heritage month and proceeds benefit the children of Medford and Kiwanis Charities. The Kiwanis Club of Medford will also be donating $5 of each ticket sold to the Food pantries in Medford at St. Francis Church, The Unitarian Church and St. Raphael’s church.

The Kiwanians banded together to transform the warehouse of Accardi & Sons on Commercial Street in Medford into an Italian Plaza, complete with trees, umbrella topped tables, and the larger-than-life Italian flag draped from the warehouse shelving. Speakers positioned around the room spread the Italian music of DJ Ross Zagami of ITAMIA.

The familiar smells of Italy wafted through the air! Over 300 attendees feasted on delicacies such as The Montvale Plaza’s eggplant rollatini & chocolate covered strawberries, Focaccia’s chicken saltimbocca, Lino’s Italian wedding soup, Raso’s Pasta Primavera, Russo’s Imports BelGioioso Cheese, Piantadosi Breads, J. Pace & sons calzone’s & Italian prosciutto , Arancini’s of Two Paisans, gourmet pizza of Regina Pizza’s, Texas Roadhouse’s prime rib, Vinny’s mouth watering meatballs, Bob’s Foods chicken broccoli & ziti, Bocelli’s eggplant parmesan, & chicken broccoli & ziti, Chicken and rice from Oasis and much much more! Wine tastings were provided by Fantasy Fine Wines. Beer Tastings made possible by August A. Busch.

No fine Italian meal would ever be complete without dessert! Modern Pastry offered delectable mini Italian pastries, Hoff’s Bakery tempted guests with fine cakes and pastries, & Colleen’s served up blueberry crisp & pumpkin ice cream. The Italian experience was made complete with espresso and cappuccino provided by Espresso Plus!

Over 50 raffles were provided by the restaurants and businesses of Boston’s North End. The gifts, the food, the dancing, it was a night to remember for all. Accardi & Sons owner, Tony DeVirgilio, said it best, “You throw a good party!”
