The Medford High School Drama Club will take on Tony-award winning hit The Pajama Game for its 2009 spring musical.

Students will take the stage at the school’s Caron Theater on Wednesday, March 25, with additional performances Thursday and Saturday evenings, as well as a matinee on Saturday.

Based on the book 7-1/2 Cents by Richard Bissell, The Pajama Game is a playful musical centering around labor troubles in a pajama factory, where worker demands for a seven and one-half cent raise are ignored. In the midst of this ordeal, love blossoms between Babe, the complaint committee head, and Sid, the new factory superintendent.

“I am thrilled to be helping our talented students bring The Pajama Game to life on stage. This show as a whole is unique, upbeat and fun, and the students are extremely enthusiastic about sharing their hard work with the entire community,” said director Sarah Grant.

“The Medford High School Drama Club consistently impresses us with their outstanding productions. I look forward to seeing their creativity and dedication realized in this year’s spring musical,” said Paul Krueger, Headmaster of Medford High School.

Tickets for The Pajama Game will go on sale the week of March 16 during all lunches at Medford High School. Tickets can also be purchased at the door before each performance. Prices are $5 for students (if purchased prior to the show) and $10 for adults. There is also a $5.00 discount for all seniors citizens and Medford Public School students at the matinee. Performance times are 7:30 p.m. for the evening shows and 2:30 p.m. for the Saturday matinee. For further information email Sarah Grant at sgrant@medford.k12.ma.us.
