The Medford Democratic City and Ward Committee will host Attorney General Martha Coakley at their September Meeting in the Alden Memorial Chambers of Medford City Hall on Wednesday evening, September 9th at 6:30 pm.
The Committee encourages all interested residents to join them for refreshment, starting at 6:00 pm, followed by what promises to be an enlightening presentation with the opportunity to pose questions and offer comments to the Attorney General.
Dr. Quaye, Ward Six Chairperson, commented: “Given the current financial situation in the Commonwealth, I am interested to learn from Attorney General Coakley the measures that are currently in place to deal, not only with our economic challenges, but the social impact those challenges bring. I am confident that the evening’s agenda will provide for lively and informative discussion that would both resonate our cherished democratic ideals and reassure us of the Commonwealth’s commitment to protect and promote the general welfare.â€
Attorney General Coakley, a resident of Medford, began her public career in 1998 when she was elected Middlesex County District Attorney. During her eight-year tenure, she established herself as a passionate advocate for public safety, emphasizing the importance of working with community leaders, schools and law enforcement in a variety of diverse and multifaceted prevention efforts.
As the 46th Attorney General of Massachusetts, she is the chief lawyer and law enforcement officer of the Commonwealth and a resource to residents who are facing challenges in the area of consumer protection, fraud, civil rights violations, health care and insurance issues.
The evening, which is being sponsored by Ward Six Democratic Committee, will begin with refreshment, followed by Attorney General Coakley’s speech, and conclude with a general meeting of the Democratic City and Ward Committee. All interested residents are asked to arrive by 5:55 pm to allow sufficient time for the refreshment, the speech, and questions and commentary.
Editor’s Note: On Thursday, September 3, Coakley officially announced her plans on making a run for Senator Edward Kennedy’s seat.
I am so excited to hear about her announcement!
