Rep. Sciortino Expresses Concerns with Green Line

Medford Rep Concerned with Project Delays; Station Locations

State Representative Carl Sciortino (D-Medford, Somerville) filed a public comment with the state Executive Office of Transportation in a response to a summer report issued about the status of the Green Line extension to Medford and Somerville.

In his letter, available in the link below, Rep. Sciortino raises concerns about project delays, the lack of consideration for a Winthrop Street station, and a two-phase approach that could set back the completion of a Route 16 stop beyond 2014.

Rep. Sciortino’s letter is exactly right — the Winthrop Street stop was discarded with no justification, and terminating the line at College Ave will make the air quality in Medford Hillside worse instead of better.
