– Allison Goldsberry

Head Coach Rico Dello Iacono and the Medford Mustang football team left Peabody with a victory Friday night as Medford put away Bishop Fenwick, 35-14.

The Mustangs’ senior leaders really stepped up for the team, with Pat Barry, Phil Chery, and captain Giovanni Sanders each scoring rushing touchdowns. Senior Mike Sullivan contributed in a big way, scoring two touchdowns for Medford.

The Mustangs also played solid defense, holding Bishop Fenwick scoreless for the second and third quarters.

Medford heads to Newton South (1-1) next Saturday for an 11AM game, and returns home on Friday, October 9, to take on North Andover (2-1). Then it’s Austin Prep (1-1) on Friday, October 16, before facing its first Greater Boston League competitor, Somerville (1-2), on Friday, October 23. Both games will be at home under the lights.

Medford’s next GBL match-up will be with Everett, Coach Dello Iacono’s alma mater, on Friday, October 30, at Everett Memorial Stadium.
