Mustang Football Takes on Everett Friday Night

The Mustangs lost to Everett, the former home turf of Head Coach Rico Dello Iacono, 42-14 on Friday night.

Dello Iacono is a former Everett High football player and helped lead the Crimson Tide to a Greater Boston League championship as team captain in 1995. He was an assistant coach for the varsity Everett football team for eight years before becoming Medford’s head coach this fall.

After five weeks of non-league competition, Head Coach Rico Dello Iacono and the Mustang football team officially opened up the Greater Boston League season with a 14-7 victory over Somerville last Friday.

Medford is 3-4 overall and is 1-1 in the GBL while Everett is 1-0 in the GBL and 4-2 overall. Malden is currently 2-0 in the GBL and 4-4 overall; Cambridge is 0-1 in the GBL and 0-8 overall; and Somerville is now 2-5 overall and 0-2 in the GBL.

Medford heads to Cambridge on Friday, November 6 and hosts Ipswich Friday, November 13 and Malden for the annual Thanksgiving Day showdown on Thursday, November 26.
