Medford, Malden Enjoy Lunch Before Big Game

Players, coaches, and the administration from both Medford and Malden continued the tradition of getting together for lunch before the Thanksgiving Game.

Head Coach Rico Dello Iacono, Headmaster Dr. Krueger, Athletic Director Bob Maloney, and captains Giovani Sanders, Tony Louis, Pat Barry, Alex Krasco, Jimmy Richardson, and Ryan Athridge broke bread with their Malden counterparts at John Brewer’s Tavern in Malden. This is the second year the tavern has generously sponsored the lunch.

Below are some pictures of the teams in front of a mural in John Brewer’s Tavern that features the special Thanksgiving rivalry between Medford and Malden. The 122-year-old rivarly is the third oldest high school rivalry in the country.

This is the first time in over ten years Medford has had a winning record heading into the Thanksgiving Day match-up. The Mustangs, 5-4, are hungry for a Thanksgiving win, as they have not beat Malden since 2006.
