Mustang Basketball Opens Season With Victories

Head Coach Anthony Faradie and the boys varsity basketball team opened up the winter season with three consecutive victories over Billerica, Xaverian, and Sharon.

The Mustangs routed Billerica, 59-41, on Sunday. Senior captain Andrew White led the Mustangs with 25 points and thirteen rebounds, while teammate Jack Forcier scored 12 points and had five rebounds.

Medford also had a successful home opener on Thursday, putting away Xaverian 56-50. White scored twenty-two points and had eight rebounds while Mike O’Leary had ten points and seven rebounds for the Mustangs. You can catch the entire Xaverian game this weekend on Channel 15 at 8AM, 12PM, 5PM, and 8PM.

White again led the Mustang offense in the team’s 57-41 victory over Sharon on Saturday. White scored eighteen points and had seven rebounds while O’Leary and Tevin Moore each had eleven points for Medford.  The game was tied 22-22 at halftime and the Mustangs used a 35-19 run in the second half to pull away and win.

The Mustangs host Malden Catholic on Tuesday, December 22 at 7PM and will participate in the Rockland High School Christmas tournament over the holiday break.

Medford doesn’t face a Greater Boston League opponent until January, when the Mustangs host Everett at 7PM on Tuesday, January 5.
