St. Francis Girls Hoops Begins Playoffs

As St. Francis Girls’ Basketball prepares for the start of their playoffs, All-Star rosters have been announced (see below). This year’s game will be played at St. Clement High School on Sunday, March 21st, with the Junior game beginning at 2:15PM and the Senior game tipping off at 3:30PM.

Senior League (Grades 6-8)

North: Siobhan Turner, Raniece Turner and Feliciana Panza (Tar Heels); Nina Parziale, Casey Smith and Paulina Petras ( Dragons); Nicole Regan, Hayeon Park and Marrissa Nargi (Nets); Kassidy Sullivan and Angela Valente (Angels).

South: Deanna Hardy and Lauryn Devine (Tar Heels); Kelly Foley, Jessica Brennan and Marissa Coit (Angels); Rebecca Pierce, Sophia Zavarelli and Chelsea Page (Nets); Jessica McGonagle, Elana Branley and Erika Welch (Dragons).

Junior League (Grades 3-5)

North: Shannon Hardy and Rosalie Howard (Celtics); Grace Cappuccio and Courtney Chagnon (Eagles); Emma Cline and Samantha Morin (Crush); Destiny Fitzgerald and Halle Farrell (Red Storm); Emma Czwakiel and Rhiannon Arnold (Buckeyes).

South: Erin Sheehan and Nicole Matarazzo (Eagles); Heather McShane and Trisha MacLean (Red Storm); Abigail Cline and Abby McCarthy (Crush); Colleen Hardy and Shannon Smith (Celtics); Adrienne Arnold and Daniela Bencis (Buckeyes).

Travel Team News

The 2009-2010 5th & 6th Grade CYO Travel Team and Co-Champs of the North Shore CYO Division is preparing for the upcoming Archdiocese of Boston CYO Tournament. The Bantam squad will be taking on St. Edward’s of Medfield at Milton High School on March 6th at 3:00 pm. The team wishes fellow Co-Champs and another Medford team, St. Joseph’s, good luck in their quarterfinal match up against Sacred Heart of Lynn.

March 7th Shoe Drive for Haiti:

This Sunday, St. Francis Girls’ Basketball is going Barefoot4Haiti. We will be collecting new and gently used shoes for the shoe charity Soles4Soles to distribute to Haitians in need. Please take time to go through your closets and gather up some shoes to give. Collection will take place this Sunday from 12:30-6:30 at Monsignor Foley Parish Center at 441 Fellsway West in Medford.

2010 Scholarship

St. Francis Girls’ Basketball is pleased to announce that it will award at least one $500.00 scholarship to a former player in the “Sunday In-house League” who is a graduating senior that will be attending college in the Fall of 2010.
