The Medford High School Cheerleaders’ Annual Banquet was held recently at Montvale Plaza in Stoneham, Massachusetts. Nine seniors were feted, as well as the underclassmen. Despite an injury riddled year, the Mustang Cheerleaders had much to celebrate. All of their seniors are heading off to college and a number of them received MHS cheerleading scholarships. Trophies were presented, team, senior and captain gifts were given out, and the underclassmen made a picture collage and presentation for each senior. Head Coach Melissa Pothier, who was assisted by her staff Kaitlyn Contardo and Lisa Evangelista, made all of the presentations. The Mustang Cheer Captains, Lindsey Mills, Darla Vitale and Jessica Albano also made remarks.

– The Ashley Burns Memorial Scholarship Award – ($250) – Audrey Farenga
– The Patricia Fargo Sollitto Memorial Scholar Athlete Award – awarded to the highest ranked senior cheerleader – ($250) – Captain Lindsey Mills
– The Unsung Senior Scholarship Award – ($250) – Captain Darla Vitale
The Mustang Cheerleaders hope to host another Spring Vacation Cheer Clinic to prep those interested in Medford High Cheerleading. Also, the Mustang Cheer Coaching Staff will be visiting both the McGlynn Middle School (Monday, April 5th) and the Andrews Middle School (Monday, April 12th) at lunchtime to talk about the MHS cheerleading program to interested 8th graders. At that time, a schedule of free tumbling classes at MHS will be handed out. Tryouts for the fall football team will be held the week of June 15th at Medford High School. All spring cheer clinic, free tumbling classes and fall team tryout information will be listed on all of the school websites.

The remaining team members are: Junior Captain Jessica Albano, Stephanie DeReinzo, Breanna Hughes, Caitlin Morris, Krysten Sheppard, Rachelle Trudel-Sessa, Tina Aiello, Christina Bramante, Daniella Colozzo, Mikalya DeReinzo, and Alycia Neirnckx.
