After defeating Wakefield on Thursday, July 22, Medford had to face a tough local opponent in Winchester on Saturday. Going against the ace of the Winchester staff, Medford could only muster four hits and two runs, en route to losing 9-2.

After arriving to Quincy for the game, Medford had to suffer through a four hour delay in their game time.

On Sunday, July 25, the Medford team, with its back against the wall in a must win situation, came through with a huge victory over Tri Town, winning 13-11.

Medford allowed Tri Town (Randolph, Holbrook and Stoughton) to score seven runs in the first two innings. But knowing that the game is played for seven innings Medford chipped away at the lead, scoring a single run in the first on a Justin Alley walk, followed by two stolen bases and a passed ball. In the Medford half of the second inning, Alley singled home Adam Auditore with the second run of the game.

Medford would score two more in the third as Patrick McTague and Derek Mecrones were issued walks. Andrew Cronin was then hit by a pitch to load the bases, from there another walk and a single by Boudrias scored two runs to bring Medford within three.

Boudrias opened the sixth inning with a triple and scored on a Stephen DiMauro deep fly ball. Derek Mecrones lead off the seventh inning with a single, followed by a walk to Andrew Modugno. Brett Mecrones then sacrificed both runners over. Boudrias then laced a single to right field, scoring the two runners and tying the game at seven. Entering extra innings the Medford offense came through again, as Derek Mecrones singled, stole second and third base and then was brought home by a single from Shawn Normile to take the lead by one.

With Normile on the mound, Tri Town scored one unearned run to send the game into the ninth inning. The Medford bats finally erupted as they scored five runs on five hits. Auditore opened the inning with a single followed by the heroic Kyle Boudrias, who smacked his fourth hit of the game. DiMauro then singled home the two runners. John Ferrara singled home Dimauro. A passed ball and another D. Mecrones hit scored the final two runs for Medford, and they move on as one of the final four teams, and earned a #1 seed in the standings.

Medford will move on to play either Plymouth or Quincy in the single elimination game on Tuesday, July 27 at 5:30pm. Wakefield is also among the final four teams.
