Boys Soccer Blanks Billerica, 2-0

The boys varsity soccer team pulled out a 2-0 victory over Billerica on their home turf on Thursday night.

The Mustangs dominated the Indians from the beginning, with the entire team giving 120% effort, said Freshman Coach Mike Cugno. Sophomore Jonathan Pires scored Medford’s first goal about midway through the first half, and freshman Erik Baptista netted the team’s second goal early in the second half.

Senior Mustangs were honored at the game, which was the last home game of the season. Seniors include captain and goalie Marcello Cugno, captain David Pires, captain Cesar Silva, Rico Altema, Dan Beemon, Joao Rosa, Chris Moura, and Anderson Casseus.

The Mustangs are 10-2-5 overall and finished 6-0-2 in the Greater Boston League. They close the regular season at Marblehead on Monday, November 1.
