Governor’s Councilor-Elect Terrence Kennedy of Lynnfield issued a formal thank you to the voters of the Sixth District who overwhelmingly supported his candidacy.

Kennedy stated, “I look forward to serving on the Governor’s Council and intend to insure professionalism and fairness in my interactions with my council colleagues, the administration, the public and the media.”

“Toward this end,” Kennedy continued, “I think the best way to guarantee that I accomplish my goals is to aggressively advocate that all Governor’s Council meetings be televised.”

“This way,” Kennedy said, “transparency and light will help inform and educate those unaware of the variety of issues the Governor’s Council deals with on a regular basis and citizens can further evaluate for themselves the performance of Governor’s Councilors tasked with overseeing all potential judicial appointments, including that of Justice Roderick Ireland to be Chief Justice of the State Supreme Court.”

Councilor-Elect Kennedy, a former Assistant District Attorney, who, for over two decades has run a successful law practice in Everett, was elected Tuesday, receiving 56% of the vote against three opponents in a district that includes twenty-one cities and towns, including parts of Boston.

“I hope I can convince my fellow council members that the time has come to lift the veil and to throw open the doors to cameras and live streaming Internet coverage. That was my promise when I ran and that will be my first order of business after I take my seat in January,” Kennedy vowed.
