Gilchrist, Sullivan Lead Basketball Team in Tourney

Seniors Danny Gilchrist and Danny Sullivan led the Mustang basketball team in the Rockland Holiday tournament this week.

Gilchrist, shown above firing off a shot despite some Lancer pressure during the Medford/MC game, earned ten points against Norwood and twenty-two points in the championship game against Rockland and was named to the all-tournament team.

Sullivan, pictured above passing the ball to Gilchrist, led the Mustangs with seventeen points against Norwood on Tuesday.

Next up for Medford is a trip to Stoneham on Sunday for a 5PM game. Pope John will visit Medford on January 5 and the Mustangs have their first GBL match-up on January 7 when they head to Everett.

The Lady Mustangs also participated in a holiday tournament this week. Medford soundly defeated Waltham on Tuesday, 57-47, in the Winchester Holiday Tournament. Tania Holmes had a team-high eighteen points and Sarah Donnely added twelve points to the Mustangs’ victory. After the holiday break the Mustangs host Everett on Friday, January 7.
