Lanzilli Earns 100th Point

Brittani Lanzilli, a freshman center on the girls varsity hockey team, nabbed her 100th career point on Saturday when the Mustangs hosted Winthrop.

Even though the team lost it was a very special moment for Lanzilli, who has been playing for the Mustangs since she was a seventh grader at the McGlynn Middle School.

Points include both goals and assists.

“In her first season as a varsity player, skating against players three and four years older than her, she continually dominated games with her skating ability and puck-handling skills. Opposing teams attempted to do everything within their power to stop her during games but failed as she scored a goal against every team in the League and was voted to the All-Star Team at the end of the season,” said Coach Dave McCarthy.

Lanzilli scored her 60th goal in the Mustangs’ opening game against Cambridge. Coach McCarthy said despite compiling “amazing statistics” at such a young age Lanzilli is not one to brag.

“What makes Brittani such a unique athlete is her humble and almost shy approach to her success on the ice. She is truly a team player,” said Coach McCarthy.

The point watch is also on for senior captain Kristina Bove, who has 95 career points.

The Mustangs are currently 6-2. They head to Masconomet Regional High School on Wednesday, January 12 for a 6pm game and host Gardner at 4pm on Saturday, January 15.
