Wayne D. Murphy, 54, Medford DPW Worker

Wayne MurphyWayne D. Murphy passed away at home in Medford on February 5th, 2011. He was born on July 28th, 1956 to his parents Vincent A. and Geraldine (Pesce) Murphy.

Wayne has been a life long resident of Medford. He is a graduate of Medford High School, class of 1974 and attended Bentley University. Wayne served his country honorably as a member of the United States Air Force. For over 31 years, he proudly worked for the City of Medford at Oak Grove Cemetery. He is a former member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians in Malden and has been a life-long communicant at Immaculate Conception Parish in Malden.

Wayne is the beloved son of Vincent A. and Geraldine (Pesce) Murphy of Medford; the dear brother of Kevin Murphy of Medford, Brian Murphy of Stoneham and Sean Murphy of Wilmington; the dear brother-in-law of Donna, Karen and Lisa Murphy; the loving uncle of Brian, Christopher, Kelly, Jon, Sean, Krista, Michael and Shannon; and the loving grand uncle of Christein. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Relatives & friends are invited to attend his funeral from the Breslin Funeral Home, 610 Pleasant St., Malden on Wednesday, February 9th at 9:30 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at Immaculate Conception Church, 600 Pleasant St., Malden at 10:30 AM. Services will conclude with interment in Oak Grove Cemetery in Medford. Visiting hours will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, February 8th from 3-8 PM.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Hallmark Health Hospice, 178 Savin St., Malden, MA 02148 or to the Hallmark Health Cancer Center, 41 Montvale Ave., Stoneham, MA 02180.
