Murals Unveiled at Medford Boys and Girls Club

The Medford Boys & Girls Club has been brightened by two large, colorful murals created this spring by students from Medford’s middle schools.

The murals, unveiled on June 22 in the recently renovated Teen Center at the Gene Mack Clubhouse, were the outcome of a project to teach children how to use graffiti style art in a positive way, as well as how to work as a team.

The project was directed by Christine Armstrong, arts coordinator for the Medford Boys & Girls Club, and Sanmartin Figueroa, a faculty member at the Eliot School of Fine and Applied Arts in Jamaica Plain who originated a similar project at the Everett Boys & Girls Club. It was funded by a grant from the Medford Arts Council.

The Medford Boys & Girls Club is located at 30 Forest St. in Medford Square. For more information, visit www.kidsclubs.org.
