Farmers Market Vendors Donating to Local Food Pantry

When Pigs Fly Bread Company is one of several vendors of the Medford Farmers Market that is donating its leftover product to a local food pantry.

Last week the Medford Farmers Market began a new initiative to help feed local families in need. Several vendors are now donating their leftover product from the end of the day to the Community Cupboard Food Pantry in the Unitarian Universalist Church in Medford.

“We would like to thank these vendors, as well as our two dedicated volunteers, Peter Taylor and Dana Gallop, for making this possible…we are glad that we can contribute to their important mission of reducing hunger in the Medford community,” said a statement from the Farmers Market Board of Directors.

According to Board President Susan Fairchild, participating vendors include Doves and Figs, When Pigs Fly, Piantedosi, Spring Brook Farms and Clearview Farms.

The Medford Farmers Market is every Thursday from 3-7PM in the Whole Foods parking lot on Route 16. The market, which recently began accepting EBT/SNAP benefits, runs through October 13.
