MHS Cheerleaders Win GBL Title

With a solid performance this week, the Mustang cheerleaders secured the Greater Boston League title and advanced to regionals.

The girls competed in an invitational cheering competition hosted by Medford High School on Thursday night. GBL teams had to score at least sixty-seven points to advance to the North Regional competition on Sunday, November 13 at Woburn High School. The Mustangs earned 76.5 out of a possible 100 points. Even though Medford had some stunting/tumbling issues, the team scored high on being clean and having a lot of difficulty within their routine, according to Medford cheering consultant Lisa Evangelista.

“We are proud to have won tonight, but we realize we have a lot of work ahead of us before the North Regional,” said Head Coach Michelle Kimball. “I’m happy that our team kept digging throughout the whole routine and finished strong. It’s so nice to have the GBL title back at Medford High School.”

Medford’s next competition is the Braintree Invitational on Sunday, October 30.
