The Medford City Council has selected its leadership for the 2012 term and has opted to stay with a veteran and a relatively new councilor.
Long-time City Councilor Robert Maiocco has been re-elected President and City Councilor Fred Dello Russo, elected to the Council in 2005, was selected to serve as Vice-President. Both Councilors have served in those leadership positions since 2010.
Councilors Maiocco and Dello Russo were nominated in a special caucus before last Tuesday’s Council meeting and received the unanimous support of their colleagues in attendance- Councilor Paul Camuso, Councilor Breanna Lungo-Koehn, and Councilor-elect Rick Caraviello.
The city councilors select their leadership from amongst themselves each year. The Council President leads the meetings each week and selects the sub-committee members.
“I am grateful to my colleagues for their votes and support and am looking forward to finishing this term and to the new term starting in January of 2012. We’re always working to make the city of Medford the best city we can for all Medford residents,” said Maiocco in a statement.
