‘The Drowsy Chaperone’ Opens Thursday

Musical Will Run March 29, 30, 31

The Medford High School Drama Club is proud to announce this year’s spring musical – The Drowsy Chaperone. The multi-talented cast will take the stage of the newly renovated Caron Theater at Medford High School on Thursday, March 29; Friday, March 30; and Saturday, March 31. All evening performances will take place at 7:30pm with an additional 2:30 p.m. matinee on Saturday, March 31.

A Tony award-winning musical, The Drowsy Chaperone is a musical with book by Bob Martin and Don McKellar and music and lyrics by Lisa Lambert and Greg Morrison. It debuted in 1998 at The Rivoli in Toronto and opened on Broadway in 2006. It started as a spoof of old musicals written by friends for the wedding of Martin and his wife, Janet. The Drowsy Chaperone is an homage to American musicals of the Jazz age, examining the effect musicals have on the fans who adore them.

Tickets for The Drowsy Chaperone will be on sale March 24. They can be purchased by students during lunch and after school. Additionally, tickets will be available at the door for $10 general admission; $5 for students and seniors. Tickets are half price ($5 general admission; $2.50 for students and seniors) for the Saturday matinee.
