Tufts University will host its largest regatta of the spring 2012 season this Saturday, hosting Wesleyan University, Wellesley College, Bates College, and the University of New Hampshire for a 23-race card. Crews will be racing on Tufts’ home Malden River Course on seven minute centers beginning at 9:30 a.m. Wesleyan, Bates and UNH return for the 11th consecutive year in the series, which dates back to the early 1990s between host Tufts and Wesleyan.
Bates Women’s Rowing is the reigning NCAA Division III National Silver Medalist, and is currently ranked 2nd in the early 2012 polls, with Wellesley, Wesleyan and Tufts all receiving mention in the national polls. Tufts is 2-1 in early season races, with solid wins over Tulane and Mt. Holyoke. On the Men’s side, Wesleyan has showed good early season form at the Varsity level, while Tufts Novice Eight is undefeated in three early season races.
The races are open to the public.
