Tufts Department of Music Presents the Tufts Symphony Orchestra Nov. 28

The Tufts University Department of Music presents a performance by the Tufts Symphony Orchestra in the Distler Performance Hall at the Perry and Marty Granoff Music Center on Wednesday, November 28, 2012 at 8 p.m. This performance is the inaugural concert of John Page, the orchestra’s new Director of Orchestral Activities.

John Page’s Tufts debut will feature the Academic Festival Overture by Johannes Brahms, The Unanswered Question by Charles Ives, the first movement of Symphony #5 in E minor by Pyotr Ilych Tchaikovsky, Oblivión by Ástor Piazzolla, Danzón #2 by Arturo Márquez, and the premiere of Three for Strings by John McDonald, Tufts professor of composition and chair of the music department.

Tufts Department of Music Presents Autonomy and the Loss of Autonomy Nov. 30

The Tufts University Department of Music is pleased to announce Autonomy and the Loss of Autonomy, a performance by the Tufts New Music Ensemble on Friday, November 30, 2012 at 8 p.m in the Distler Performance Hall at the Perry and Marty Granoff Music Center. The performance will feature works for soloists and groups by Makaan, Kagel, Kurtag, and members of the New Music Ensemble under the direction of Donald Berman.

Tufts Department of Music Presents West Side Story, a concert by Tufts Jazz Orchestra Dec. 1

The Tufts University Department of Music presents the Tufts Jazz Orchestra in a performance entitled “West Side Story”. The concert will be held in Goddard Chapel at Tufts University on Saturday, December 1, 2012 at 8 p.m. The program will feature music from the classic musical, works by Rodgers and Hart, Afro Cuban dance forms, and breathtaking new arrangements of winter holiday classics.
