A massive project that replaced all of Route 93’s bridges in Medford last summer has been recognized for both its efficiency and creativity.

The “Fast 14” bridge replacement project replaced fourteen highway bridges in just ten weekends. The multimillion dollar project received a “Best Project” award from ENR New York (Engineering News Record). The Fast 14 project was praised for not only its execution, but also for a major public outreach effort that included heavy use of social media.

“…the agency did such a good job of publicizing its Medford demolition and replacement project of 14 bridges along I-93…that onlookers gathered nearby with lawn chairs to watch the work,” said the ENR announcement of the award.

The full award announcement is available on the ENR New York website.
