Markey Kicks Off Campaign for US Senate

Markey Senate campaign kick off

Long-time Democratic Congressman Ed Markey officially kicked off his Senate campaign in Malden on Saturday morning. Markey is seeking the seat vacated by Senator John Kerry, who left to become Secretary of State. Rep. Markey, a Malden native, was first elected to Congress in 1976. He faces competition from Democratic Congressman Stephen Lynch, who recently announced his campaign. The primary for the open Senate seat is April 30, and the special election is June 25.
