Tufts Announces Upcoming Public Concerts

Tufts Piano Faculty in Concert February 28

The Tufts University Department of Music presents Tufts piano faculty members Hisako Hiratsuka, Gregg Pauley, Thomas Stumpf, and Edith Auner in the Distler Performance Hall of the Perry and Marty Granoff Music Center on Thursday, February 28, 2013 at 8 p.m. The piano faculty will perform a variety of works for two and four hands, including Mozart’s “Sonata for Two Pianos,” Brahms’ “Variations on a Theme by Robert Schumann,” op. 23, and Milhaud’s “Scaramouche.”

Wind Ensemble Concert March 3

The Tufts University Department of Music is pleased to present Lux et Tenebra, a concert by the Tufts Wind Ensemble, in the Distler Performance Hall at the Perry and Marty Granoff Music Center on Sunday, March 3, 2013 at 3 p.m. as part of the Sunday at Tufts – Community Concert Series. Directed by John McCann, the Wind Ensemble will perform music that explores the relationship between light and dark from a variety of viewpoints, including “Zandunga Serenade” by Carlos Chavez; “Night Soliloquy” by Kent Kennan, featuring senior flutist Alyssa San Pedro; “Prelude and Dance of the Mystic Flame” by Alexander Scriabin, “Lux Arumque” by Eric Whitacre, and “Angels in the Architecture” by Frank Ticheli.
