Passport to the Future: Free Informational Programs on Aging, Caregiving, Finances Launches Feb. 28

Over 40 people attended Passport to the Future, a free informational event sponsored by Medford Health Matters through a grant from Mt. Auburn Hospital. The program is organized to help adults, baby boomers, and caregivers plan for their futures and the futures of their loved ones. The evening began with a wine and cheese reception. Wine was donated by Mark Tonello from Constellation Brands. Door prizes were donated by BJ’s and Bistro 5.

A panel of area representatives gave an overview available services and important topics. Karen Rose, Director of Health and Elder Affairs for the City of Medford, gave an overview of activities and programs available to Medford adults/seniors. Daniel J. O’Leary, Executive Director of Mystic Valley Elder Services, reviewed several programs available to area seniors. Patrick G. Curley, a certified elder law attorney, highlighted a list of legal issues that are important for all adults. The panelists gave a tremendous amount of valuable information and went on to take questions from attendees.

Marie Cassidy appeared as an aging “Marilyn Monroe”. “Marilyn” opened the event with humor and set the stage for addressing the little things we all need to plan for but too often put off for another day.

Navigating the Elder Law Maze, the second event in the series, will be held on Thursday, March 28 at Medford City Hall Council Chamber. The programs are free and open to all adults, baby boomers and care givers. To register go to www.hallmarkhealthhomecare.org or call MVES at 781-324-7705 x161.
