On Friday, July 5 additional prep work for the Green Line extension will continue in Somerville.

This work is part of the widening of the Medford Street Railroad Bridge to allow for Green Line tracks to run alongside the Commuter Rail tracks, according to an email from project officials.

For three weeks Medford Street in Somerville will be closed between the McGrath Highway and Ward Street to allow for sandblasting and painting of the Medford St. Railroad Bridge.

A summary of the closure and map of the traffic diversion plan can be found on the GLX website.

In other Green Line extension news, public meetings were held in June to review station designs for Ball Square and College Avenue. Presentations from those meetings are now available on the Green Line website.
