Medford’s public access station, TV3 Medford, is being investigated by the police for alleged hateful speech and discrimination directed toward a member, according to information released by Mayor Michael McGlynn’s office.
Doreen Wade identified herself as a member of TV3 and, speaking before the Medford City Council on Tuesday night, said she was subjected to hateful speech and discriminatory behavior at TV3.
“Among the acts that most significantly diminish the rights of each one of us to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness are discrimination and hateful words or conduct. I join with the Council in a unified denouncement of any such behavior,” said Mayor McGlynn in a letter delivered to City Councilors on Wednesday.
The Mayor has asked Medford Police Chief Leo Sacco to have the police investigate the matter starting immediately.
Mayor McGlynn said he will report the results of the investigation to the Council once it is concluded.
TV3 is currently off the air since it is in the process of setting the station up in a new location in Medford Square.
