The Medford Post 45 Baseball team exploded in the seventh inning to earn a decisive 7-1 victory at Tyngsboro on Tuesday.

John Lavoie had another clutch performance on the mound. He had a shut out going until the bottom of the sixth. Lavoie held Tyngsboro’s rally to one run, with runners stranded on second and third while he got a batter to line out to first and strike out to end the inning.

Lavoie pitched a complete game, giving up five hits and striking out five, according to Coach Ryan Kozul. His record is now 3-1.

“Lavoie was outstanding all game,” said Kozul.

Medford’s offensive got started a bit late, with RBI’s from Jake Porrazzo and Dave Center giving the team a 2-0 lead in the fourth. After Tyngsboro made it a one run game in the sixth, Medford responded with five runs in the top of the seventh. Tim Conroy delivered an RBI single to make it 3-1 before Center clubbed his third homer of the season, a three run shot, to break the game open. Mike Pizzi knocked in Lavoie with a two out single to account for the final margin.

Medford is 13-3 heading into Thursday’s road game at Weston. The 45ers have their last home game on Saturday against Hudson. First pitch is at 11AM at Playstead Park.
