Clark Kicks Off Congressional Campaign with Coakley’s Endorsement

State Senator Katherine Clark, D-Melrose, and Attorney General Martha Coakley, a Medford Democrat, officially kicked off Katherine’s campaign for Congress on Saturday in front of an enthusiastic crowd of volunteers and supporters.

Joined by Coakley and Melrose Mayor Robert Dolan, Katherine told supporters at Memorial Hall that she’s running to stop Republicans pushing an ideological agenda of blocking pay equity for women and turning back the clock on women’s health and get them focused on the issues that matter most.

“I won’t stand by and watch the extremist Republicans in Congress attack a woman’s right to make her own healthcare decisions instead of focusing on the issues that matter to our families and our communities — creating jobs, addressing climate change, investing in education, keeping our promises to our seniors and veterans, and stopping the epidemic of gun violence in this country,” Clark said.

Katherine said she was grateful for the support of Attorney General Coakley and Mayor Dolan, who share Katherine’s priorities of changing the conversation in Congress to growing the middle class and securing our future. The two called on supporters to send Katherine to Washington.

“I have been proud to call Katherine Clark a colleague and a friend for many years. Katherine has the conviction to fight for what she believes in, and the ability to bring people together to get things done,” Coakley said. “That is why I endorsed her from the moment she got in this race, and why I believe she will be an outstanding United States Congresswoman.”
