Tufts’ Chili Luncheon Honors Local Police, Firefighters

On Wednesday, October 16 Tufts University held its eleventh annual “Station House Chili Fest,” an informal event that began in 2002 to recognize the duties of local police officers and firefighters. Created in the aftermath of 9/11, the event takes place during “National Fire Prevention and Public Safety Month” and brings local community heroes together with Tufts students for lunch. Medford and Somerville police, firefighters and EMS teams are all invited to the event each year.

Tufts students have enjoyed this event as they have come to more deeply respect the local police and fire officials through a greater understanding of their dedication to community.
