Mustang Football Team Seeking Playoff Bid

The Medford High School football team will play their last regular season game at home on Friday against Somerville. The 2-4 Mustangs will be looking for a win against the Highlanders. A win would secure a playoff bid for Medford. A loss could also put the Mustangs in the playoffs, depending on the fortunes of other teams under the new football playoff system, where teams are grouped into several different divisions and points are assigned for wins and losses.

Medford’s schedule prior to Thanksgiving is up in the air under the new system. The Mustangs’ traditional Thanksgiving game with Malden- in its 126th year- is still taking place at home this season.

According to Head Coach Jason Nascimento, Medford should know on Saturday who the team will compete against and where between now and Thanksgiving.

Friday’s game against Somerville is at 7PM at Hormel Stadium.
