Medford Interfaith Clergy ‘Give Thanks,’ Support Local Food Pantries

Medford interfaith clergy

The interfaith clergy of Medford brought together over 200 people on Monday, November 25th at Grace Episcopal Church for an evening of “Giving Thanks” and support local food pantries.

Clergy from Roman Catholic, Protestant, Unitarian, Buddhist and Jewish traditions all participated in the event. Cub Scouts, Girl Scouts and Brownies from across Medford joined in leading the gathering in the pledge of allegiance. City Councilor Richard Caraviello brought words of welcome on behalf of the Mayor and City Council. Community Food Pantry Director Dr. Elizabeth Ammons spoke of important role food pantries play in our community, and the tragedy of them being needed in a nation as wealthy as ours. Clergy from different faith traditions shred readings, prayers and songs.

Over 500 lbs of food, and over $1,100 was raised from the event to support the Friends of Francis Food Pantry (located at St. Francis parish), St. Raphael’s Food Pantry (located at St. Raphael’s Parish), and the Community Cupboard Food pantry (located at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Medford). All of these food pantries continue to need support through the year to provide for the many people in our community in need.
