Outside the Lines Studio Holiday Fair, Art Show Dec. 7th

On Saturday, December 7th, Outside the Lines Studio (OTL) is hosting a holiday craft fair and art show from 4-7pm including handmade crafts and artwork by teaching artists and artists living with disabilities. Polarnacht, an exhibition featuring the work of local artists Ashlie Taylor, Blue Salvucci, and Het Haudenshield, will be curated by local artist Yogi. Think Tigers, a special exhibition celebrating tigers, will generate proceeds to protect this endangered species. The fair is an opportunity for community members to purchase unique gifts from a diverse array of ornaments, apparel, handmade holiday gifts, and fine art and help support artists living with disabilities while enjoying live music and a festive atmosphere.

Outside the Lines Studio is an alternative arts based day program for people living with disabilities run by a team of teaching artists, expressive therapists, professional staff, and volunteers. OTL offers individualized supported to artists living with disabilities, empowering them to develop unique portfolios and distinct artistic voices in a supportive, open group environment. OTL provides clients with classes in drawing and mixed media arts, cooking, yoga and dance, and collaborates with community organizations through events like the Somerville Arts Council’s ArtBeat, the Mystic Arts Festival, and a television show on SCATV. OTL also frequently exhibits artwork by clients in local businesses and partners with schools such as Lesley University, Tufts University, Boston University, and MassArt. Outside the Lines has also received many prestigious awards and grants such as a 2010 award from the City of Medford Commission for Persons with Disabilities and a Carl and Ruth Shapiro Family Foundation grant for the recently established ASK4Art Project; a mobile arts program that brings Outside the Lines’ services to homebound artists. This year, OTL received a grant from the Medford Arts Council for its “continued commitment to improving the quality of life in Medford.”
