Green Line Construction Group Seeking Members

The Green Line Extension is now taking applications for the open seats on the Construction Working Group (formerly the Design Working Group). The deadline for applications is Friday, December 13.

The Construction Working Group (CWG) will advise the MBTA on the final design and construction issues associated with six new stations and a maintenance facility proposed for the neighborhoods of Brickbottom, Gilman Square, Lowell Street, Ball Square, College Avenue, and Union Square, as well as the relocation of Lechmere Station. CWG members will help the MBTA to plan neighborhood and community meetings on design and construction issues and gather and share local input on these plans. It is anticipated that the CWG will be a fundamental component of the project’s public outreach during final design and construction and will advise the MBTA on successful outreach and communication. More on the CWG’s goals and responsibilities can be found here: http://greenlineextension.eot.state.ma.us/documents/wrkGroup/construction_goals_responsibilites.pdf.

We are seeking individuals who live in the three project corridor municipalities, are familiar with the neighborhoods around the proposed facilities, and are users of the MBTA system. The open seats are for the following station areas: Ball Square (2 seats); College Avenue (1 seat); Lechmere (1 seat); Gilman Square (2 seats); and Union Square (1 seat).

Applicants should be prepared to represent their communities, share project information with their neighbors, and report local feedback at Working Group meetings. In addition, applicants must have a strong interest in the Green Line Extension Project, an open mind, and a willingness to make a firm commitment. Preference will be given to applicants who live within the walking catchment area (approximately a one-mile radius) of the proposed facility sites. We expect that meetings will be held 3-4 times a year, with the next meeting in February 2014. Working Group members will also be expected to participate in public meetings associated with the design and construction process. All Working Group meetings will be open to the public and there will be an opportunity at the meetings for non?member input.

Please see the application here. Please send your response, along with your contact information, to Regan Checchio at rchecchio@reginavilla.com. All applications should be received by December 13, 2013.

As always, thank you for your interest in and support of the Green Line Extension.
